[...] Blog Archive » March 11sec Part 1/4 – Thinking+Planning I downloaded it from the site and put it on loop for about an hour (which probably annoyed the hell out of my girlfriend, Christen). All I was doing was thinking. Sometimes I had my eyes closed envisioning different scenarios, different staging on the same scenarios, and sometimes I couldn’t tell you what I was thinking about, I was probably just spacing out. Mostly, I was trying to really pay attention to the pauses in the dialogue, the breaths, and also the inflection of the voice. He clearly sounded very stressed, practically on the verge of tears during the first half, rather sensitive and frankly, kind of prissy and uptight. I wanted to do something unique, and something that could potentially stand out from the rest of the rest of the submissions. [...]

ummm, no idea. Your best bet is to get yourself an art-of-shrek-2 book and see what the concept art images look like for puss and what names are attached to them. I'm pretty certain there isn't only one person responsible for the character we all know and love today - but you might find someone who made concept art that looks *most* like him.

Hi Jacob. Please, I don´t know if you know the guy who designed (created) or was inspired by the first original Puss in Boots for shrek 2? Who is that person? It´s never spoken of and I wish I knew who originally designed the cat and what was his/her story behind it...I think it would come out pretty good given the timming for puss n boots movie upcome.

Thanks!

Praveen,
The best thing for getting started in short film making is to do it over and over and over. Just start making films. They could be 30 seconds long, just keep doing it. The more you do it the more you'll understand what works and what doesn't. A great website to highlight this example is 5secondfilms.com - where a group of friends make 5 second films repeatedly. A lot of them are kind of terrible, but some of them are incredibly successful. Finding out what DOESN'T work is just as important as finding out what does. Just start creating things and see where it takes you.
